Shining A Light On LED Therapy

Are you feeling in the dark about light therapy!? Not anymore, this month in the Giddie Skin News we are talking all about Light Therapy, LED therapy, or light emitting diode therapy. Invasive, painful and harsh treatments are no longer the only option for beautiful skin! LED therapy is a skincare treatment that uses varying wavelengths of light to repair the skin. Light therapy can be an excellent treatment option for those that do not want any after effects as it is gentle on the skin and doesn’t leave any evidence after. ;) LED therapy is a great treatment option for all skin types and side effects are rare.

In general the treatments are quick, for 20-30 minutes you’ll lay under light therapy of your need. Whether after a microdermabrasion, dermaplaning or microneedling this is a great add on to improve healing, acne, and sun damage. Let’s break down all of your treatment options, the different types of LED therapy you can get and which ones are best for which issues!

There is “light” at the end of the bad skin tunnel…!

Red Light

First up, red light therapy! Red light therapy or low level laser light therapy is a great alternative to traditional skin care due to the fact that it will penetrate deeper into the skin. Red light therapy reaches deeper to impact the skin cells. This therapy has an incredible capacity to improve general facial skin health and treat numerous skin conditions and it helps develop even skin tone and texture. Red light therapy can help with wrinkles and fine lines, sun damage, scarring, eczema, psoriasis, melasma and facial cellulitis.

Blue Light

This light therapy is changing the game when it comes to acne!  Like its BFF, red light therapy, blue light therapy offers a wide range of benefits to help you achieve the glowing skin you are after. Blue light therapy harnesses natural blue light to treat a variety of conditions just under the skin and it is one of the most powerful treatment options available when it comes to light therapy. This therapy offers a variety of benefits such as skin cancer, sun damage, and has been shown to combat Seasonal Affective Disorder!

Amber Light

Referred to as yellow or orange therapy, has a shallower skin penetration than its besties red and blue, but this doesn’t make it any less of an incredible radiating skin treatment option! Amber light therapy stimulates the production of red blood cells which is extremely beneficial for skin healing, skin cell rejuvenation, and removing redness. Amber light is best known for its soothing and anti-inflammatory benefits. It will also increase lymphatic flow, which removes toxins and waste from the skin, and promotes anti-aging. It is an ideal therapy for those with sensitive skin types!

When light penetrates the skin, key mechanisms take place to alter biological pathways which ultimately improves the appearance of skin! This is why LED therapy for skin is such an incredible treatment option. When it comes to any skin treatment, we want to try and reach the lower layers of the skin as much as possible, which actually results in lasting, noticeable change! These treatments can be combined if you’re targeting multiple skin issues.

Treat yourself right, with therapy light!
