LIVE. LAUGH. WEAR SUNSCREEN

We are hoping by now the idea of using a daily sunscreen, and yes no matter what time of year it is, is something you have incorporated into your daily routine. And if not, there is no better time to start then now. Most of us are used to using a sunscreen when the rays are intense to avoid a sunburn and the damage it does to your skin, we do it to avoid the short term pain, but many don’t know that in order to avoid the long term pain, for example wrinkles, premature aging, sun damage and sun spots, we should be using a daily SPF.  Today in our Giddie Skin News we are giving you the scoop on why sunscreen is as imperative in your daily routine as brushing your teeth.

Skin Cancer
The C word, this one is usually enough to get people thinking, but let’s break down why. Daily SPF usage decreases the risk of skin cancer not only on your face but everywhere else you apply it. Our faces are one of the most exposed areas of our body and because of this, we need to make sure we are always protecting our skin, even if we don’t feel the sun is harsh enough yet. Over time, increased exposure to the sun will increase the chances of skin cancer. Sunscreen actually minimizes the penetration of UV rays into the skin. You must apply daily to see the cumulative protection over days and months. There are a variety of incredibly face friendly SPF’s! UVA rays age you, UVB rays burn you, make sure you protect yourself from both.

Premature Aging & Wrinkles
There’s nothing like premature aging that could have been completely avoidable, which is why we recommend you start right now if you haven't already. As early as 20 years of age is a good time to start protecting your skin against the early effects of antiaging and the environmental factors you simply can’t avoid when you are living your best life! A daily sunscreen will not only help minimize the effects of premature aging but it will help lessen the fine lines and wrinkles as you age as well! Your skin is healthier overall when you apply a daily sunscreen and the most powerful anti aging product we can recommend to you is sun protection! Fun fact: the clouds only block 20% of the sun's rays, so yes sunscreen needs to be locked and loaded even when it’s cloudy outside.

Discoloration & Sun Damage
Being in the sun is unavoidable, but sun damage is. At Giddie Skin we believe the sun is one of nature's greatest medicines, but you do still need to be taking the necessary precautions to avoid over exposure which can lead to sun damage such as sun spots or discoloration or dark spots. We all want youthful radiant skin for as long as possible and sun damage can be costly to minimize or repair once created. Sun damage causes photoaging of the skin, which causes a thick, leathery look with discoloration and a breakdown of collagen. If there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that collagen is key to keeping your skin young and fresh, so keep up that collagen and keep on the sunscreen.

So, by now we’re sure you’re wondering what products are available for you!?

Here’s what we recommend and they are all available at Giddie Skin:
